August - No meeting  - LCGOP picnic & lots of fairs, parades and events to help our candidates.  

August 2nd—Hartford Fair Parade -  This year the parade is being held on a special Opening day  - 
“free’ day at the Fair. It is part of their Sesquicentennial Celebration of the Fair.   The line-up begins at 4:30pm at the Licking County Garage on the Fairgrounds.   Parade vehicles should enter at Gate C.    The Parade steps off at 5:30pm and will travel the Fairgrounds.   The parade is followed by Opening Ceremonies.   At 8:30pm free Phil Dirt and the Dozers concert, and fireworks to follow.     Should be the largest crowd of the Fair on this special opening day!     There is a parade entry form. 

August 2-9, 2008- COMMUNITY EVENT- Hartford Fair— Sign up to work the LCGOP Booth and Support local and county GOP candidates—attend wearing candidate’s tee-shirts and stickers.  

August 2nd—COMMUNITY EVENT- Art In The City – 4:00pm till 8:00pm – Around The Works and downtown Newark –free events, live music, street performers, storytellers and architectural tours.

August 9th— JOHNSTOWN—DOOR to DOOR for GOP Candidates—sponsored by the LCGOP Patriots— Meeting At Gazebo downtown Johnstown.  TIME: 9am— walk teams will be leaving between 9am and 9:15am. August 10th Golf Outing for Terry Evans(County Auditor),

Parade line-up is at 11am, and the Parade steps off at 12 Noon—Sign up to work the LCGOP Booth and Support local and county GOP candidates—attend wearing candidate’s tee-shirts and stickers.  Theme for the Parade is ‘Down on the Farm’.  Judy Baird has registration forms and information (740-927-2567). You must register to be in the parade and there are entry fees.  

August 16th— PATASKALA—DOOR to DOOR for GOP Candidates—sponsored by the LCGOP Patriots— This will be before the parade—Meeting At Bruce Baird Realty on Broad St., 
parking lot.  TIME: 9am— walk teams will be leaving between 9am and 9:15am.

August 30,31 Sept. 1st - COMMUNITY EVENT- 64th Anniversary Swappers Day—Sponsored by the Johnstown Sportsmans Club, Inc.; 7357 Sportsman Club Rd. NW Johnstown  - Support local and county GOP candidates—attend wearing candidate’s tee-shirts and stickers.  

August 31st - COMMUNITY EVENT- Dawes Arboretum Outdoor Concert – 
Sunday evening – Andy Carlson and his band, and the Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra – Bluegrass, BBQ, Beethoven and Fireworks.

September 1st—COMMUNITY EVENT- Labor Day Parade—sponsored by the Licking-Knox Labor Council—Parade lines-up at 10:30am at the Newark High School Parking lot (off Granville Street) and steps off at 12 Noon.   The route follows Granville Street to Fifth, to West Main and around the Courthouse Square.    The point of contact is Gary Wood (740-345-1765) of the Licking-Knox Labor Council.   The parade is free, but they ask you to register.

***September 4th GOP Convention Watching Party—at the OSU Reese Center, Newark, OH at 7 pm. Once again Pat Jones is organizing this wonderful event held once every 4 years.  Mark you calendars.  Details to follow.     

September 6th —COMMUNITY EVENT– Annual Lite The Nite Car Show  - 12 Noon till 9:00pm around the downtown Square.    You can register a vehicle in the show and have your magnetic signs on it.

September 11th Patriot's Day - Chili Cook-off and Candidates Night  - TIME:  5:30pm – 8:30pm;  LOCATION: Rotary Pavilion - shelter house on OSU Newark Campus off Sharon Valley Road in Newark, across from the Newark Ice-Rink; Enter your favorite chili – Then come and vote for the best hot & spicy, best traditional and best creative chili.  Also, the 2008 Candidates will speak for 5 minutes and then take questions from the audience.  

September 20th—COMMUNITY EVENT– Annual Granville Hot Lick Blues Festival — 
afternoon and evening — on Broadway in the Village.

October 1st—Hebron Homecoming Parade is the evening

October 9th  - Election Work Night - TIME:  6pm – 9pm – LOCATION:  LCGOP HQ 48 N 4th St. – we will have phone banks, door to door, yard signs and much more that needs done.   
November 13th  Election overview – details to follow
December 11th  - Christmas Social – details to follow
